Frank Darby

Frank Darby is the host of Sirius XM’s “On Course” program, and one of the country’s foremost collegiate coaches. Darby is in his fourth season as head coach of the Manhattan Jaspers men’s golf team, after spending the previous 20 years as the head coach at St. John’s University. In his final season at St. John’s (2013-14), Darby was named Big East Coach of the Year after guiding the Red Storm to a Big East Championship title. Darby coached St. John’s to six NCAA Regional appearances while overseeing the development of 27 All-Big East selections, including 2011 PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley. Over his 20-year coaching career, Darby has coached 80 players who earned Big East All-Academic honors, including 11 that were selected as GCAA Academic All-Americans. A 27-year member of the PGA of America, Darby is a member of the Tournament Operations Field staff for the Metropolitan Section of the PGA, which entails planning, organizing and implementing 100 golf events in a six-month period. He also served as the Head Golf Professional at Nissequoque Golf Club for 11 years and at the Colonial Springs Golf Club for two years. George Connor

George Connor, PGA, has been teaching and coaching for over 25 years. He runs Connor Golf with Farmington Woods Golf Club as his home base. He is currently working with, or has worked with, players on the PGA LatinoAmerican Tour, PGA Tour Canada, Middle-East North Africa (MENA) and the European Challenge Tour, in addition to introducing players to the game and helping competitive players develop their golf skills. He has been named three times by the Connecticut Section PGA as the Teacher of the Year. George is a Certified Aimpoint Instructor, New Rules Golf Coach Certified and is certified by the SeeMore Putting Institute. He authored “Drill Your Way to Great Putting,” available from Amazon.  He is the assistant coach to the women’s golf team at the University of Hartford.

David Brinker

David is the President of Mid-America Golfing Events and 10-time RE/MAX World Long Drive Finalist. David won the 2012 RE/MAX World Long Drive title (Legends Division) and has won multiple additional U.S. and international long-drive championships. His long drive journey began in 2004 at the Long Drivers of America tour Qualifying School in Dallas. He captured the interest of seasoned long drivers by earning his LDA tour card on his first attempt. He recorded the third-longest drive of that competition with a distance of 399 yards. In addition, David is a regular at the United States Senior Long Drive Championships. David has a flair for bringing excitement and entertainment to both corporate and charitable events. Through his efforts, he has helped raise in excess of $2,000,000 for charitable events during his long-drive tenure.

Steve Basson

Steve Basson is a certified USGA and CSGA Rules of Golf expert with 15 years of experience officiating and teaching the Rules. Steve has officiated at countless events run by the CSGA, CT Section PGA, and the NCAA. In addition, Steve has delivered numerous Rules of Golf seminars to college golf teams, country clubs, club professionals  and private groups. His philosophy is to focus on the five percent of the rules that cause 95 percent of the problems. Steve believes that a good understanding of the rules can lower your score by not only avoiding penalties, but by knowing how to use the rules to your advantage. Steve will break down the recent changes to the Rules of Golf focusing on the most relevant changes impacting the average golfer.

Jason DeSombre

Jason DeSombre is a Physical Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist who has been working with athletes of all ages and skill levels since graduating from Ithaca College. Over his career, Jason has worked with several high schools, colleges and professional teams. Since 2008, Jason has become very involved with treating golfers from both an injury perspective as well as for performance enhancement. He has gone through certification in four tracks from the Titleist Performance Institute, which include Level 3 Medical Professional, Level 3 Fitness Professional, Level 2 Golf Coach and Level 2 Junior Coach for development of junior athletes. Jason was also certified through K-Vest, which is the Titleist Performance Institute endorsed 3D motion analysis system to look at kinematic sequence and reduce injuries in golfers. Jason is currently the Center Manager for Select Physical Therapy in the Watertown and Naugatuck clinics.

Dave Souza

Dave Souza is the owner and center manager of the GOLFTEC West Hartford Training Center. Dave has been coaching with GOLFTEC for over seven years in the Boston area and has taught over 7,000 lessons. He truly believes in the GOLFTEC process for improvement, which focuses on measurable, fact-based changes to the golf swing. By utilizing the latest motion-measurement technology, he can teach golfers of all levels how to achieve their personal goals the fastest. The results are consistent: students are more confident on the course and play better golf. GOLFTEC has recently released the findings of the most comprehensive big-data study on the golf swing ever done, called SwingTRU. Dave will discuss the benefits of the SwingTRU study in his presentation, helping golfers learn what really makes the great players great.
